Here we go again....

Once again, the skin is breaking down near the right CI implant site. The infection still exists and doesn't appear to be going away. It seems inevitable that the implant is going to have to be removed. No doubt, this has to be a Bio-Film infection. It's been present since a few days after the initial implantation. It's so frustrating. I just want to get past this. He is able to wear the implant, but he has started waking up at night. He started waking up at night right before we had his last surgery to clean up the site. I'm sure it is bothering him.

At the moment, it doesn't appear to be effecting his sleep. He's snug as a bug in a rug.

Do you think Kinnick likes her big brother, Hayden? They're so funny together.

Grandpa Woolley and Pat came to visit this week. It was nice having them. We don't get to see them much. They live so far away - Iowa about 8-9 hrs away. It was a short visit. They spent the entire time spoiling us. They cooked all of the meals and helped with cleaning. It was a nice treat! We hated to see them leave.

Kinnick is starting to feel better. Nurse Marci was able to capture some fun pics on the new tire swing.

They are so stinkin' cute, aren't they?

Carver seen his ENT again yesterday. The right CI site STILL has some fluid. He thought that the fluid had gone down. The fluid builds during the day, but starts off pretty dry in the morning. His ENT had some time to visit with other doctors about the infection. He says that it is possible that Carver has a BioFilm infection in the Cochlear Implant package. This would have gotten contaminated at the time of implantation, I believe. Everything that I have read indicates that it is nearly impossible to get rid of the infection without removing the implant. Apparently, it is difficult for typical antibiotics to penetrate the package that forms around the implant. The doctor wants to try to ride it out - hoping the antibiotic will clear up the infection. I would like to be optimistic, but I'm not feeling good about it. Please pray that the infection goes away and that Carver doesn't have to go through 2 more surgeries.
